I really like this dress by Victoria Beckham - so simple, yet sweet and sexy on Eva Longoria (she wore it back in April). Love the dark eyes, too. I think slightly shorter hair would have been better, more mature (in a good way) to balance out the cuteness of the dress...

Meeting Claudia Schiffer

Happy birthday, Claudia! (she is 40 today)

It was at a flamenco show in Paris (must have been in 1998?) when Naomi Campbell was dating Joaquín Cortés, a flamenco dancer:

"He famously dated Naomi Campbell – despite neither of them speaking the other's language – with her reportedly taking a drugs overdose when he ended their relationship (one acquaintance tells me that it only lasted as long as it did – just under a year – precisely because he could not understand what she was saying)." (Telegraph)

Anyway, the two supermodels were there. I'm guessing that they were in Paris for fashion week and Naomi begged Claudia to come along to the show...

It was embarrassing... but I asked Claudia for her autograph (and I'm glad I did!). Here it is:

Brigitte Bardot exhibition

There were posters everywhere in St Tropez for the Brigitte Bardot exhibition so we decided to go. It was really fun! She was so beautiful, no wonder she was and still is such an icon! I took a couple of photos; do you see any here that you've never seen before? And has anyone seen her films? Are they any good?

Here is an original postcard that she wrote and sent from Capri! This is her handwriting - interesting!

Junior Ray-Bans... and for me?

I just couldn't resist. I got my son another pair of Junior Ray-Bans! Aviators this time. Aren't they cute?

So now his mini collection looks like this. Not bad for a four-year old, huh?

For myself I prefer oversized sunglasses à la Victoria Beckham but then I see pictures like this: Penelope Cruz looking fab in Wayfarers. She and other celebrities make it look so easy but I haven't found any yet that really suit me.

Trophy life pictures + Thomas Goode teacup inspiration

In "Trophy life: Ruffles and rocks, frills and fur - meet spring's high-maintenance woman" (May issue of Tatler) there are some beautiful and creative pictures. I just wanted to share these. 

It depicts a lifestyle that is far from my - and I'm guessing most people's - reality. Haute couture and long evening dresses, with not a strand of hair out of place... (People like this must go through loads of hairspray.)

Love the make-up. Note: lipstick, not lip gloss! 

In the bottom right corner of the collage, I've zoomed in on the teacup from the last picture. It instantly caught my eye. It's slim and elegant. The small print says that it's by Thomas Goode. Ever heard of it? Anyway I think I am now leaning towards slim teacups like that, not the big round ones... In any case, I have totally gone off mugs. 

Are there particular brands I should look at when I go shopping for new teacups? They need to be dishwasher safe!

My secret: The 2+1 men in my life

Um, did I ever tell you that I have a teenage daughter who adores the Twilight series and this is why I had to get her this DVD? You wouldn't believe what a fan she is of Edward Cullen / Robert Pattinson...

Ok, I admit it, I don't have a teenage daughter but at times like this I sort of wish I did. Because I'm a wee bit embarrassed to admit that I have a crush on Edward. (I think I'm too old.)

I say Edward because I prefer him as Edward, the perfect gentleman with the perfectly plucked eyebrows. Robert P in real life - in premiere photos - doesn't always look as handsome and he smokes (boo) but his natural skintone and eye colour are better, of course.

So by 2+1 I mean my husband, my son + Edward Cullen. Don't worry, my husband knows all about Edward. And my son's seen photos of him and said he doesn't like Edward's lovely hair. Well, I shall forgive him for not liking men.

It's important to note that I did not pre-order this DVD or rush out to buy it. I am not that desperate. Really.

I know what I shall be doing next week when I have the house to myself...
