Quote: Televension

All these awards... it's probably rather boring for most of you so I thought I would share a little quote.

My little boy adores watching TV. Well, DVDs actually, where we can 'control' the content. No TV.

He's not so keen on the radio, though. That's boring - blah blah blah! And no pictures.

So he wanted to tell us to turn the radio off (he would never tell us to turn off the television)... but he still gets confused with his words sometimes. So he ended up saying:

"You have to turn the televension off!"

Now that I think about it, it doesn't make that much sense. But we had a good giggle anyway!

* If you are looking for an educational DVD, this is it: The Little Einsteins! In every story they travel around the world and introduce famous works of art and music. Children are supposed to join in the fun, too: they get asked questions, they have to clap their hands and sing along.

So for example, in 'The Glass Slipper Ball' they feature:
Art by Andy Warhol.

Music by Strauss.

So parents can leave their children in front of the TV without feeling guilty!

Awards... continued

I have more awards for you!

Just so you know... Rather than making random lists, I've tried my best to pass on an award that you (if you are on one of these lists) do not have yet. Not an easy task with some of you (you know who you are!).

Another Sunshine Award, this time from Girly Tomboy.

* * *

The Cherry on Top Award from Sketchbook Six.
What I like about myself: I laugh a lot. I am organised. I am reliable and I can keep secrets!

* * *

The Blog with Substance Award from Inspired Design.
(Select five words that describe your blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience.)
Blogging makes me happy because it is where I get to write (and I've always liked that) and join a fun community full of amazing people. For me my blog is like an online scrapbook and 30 years from now I know I will enjoy re-reading it!

From Russia with love: Glamorous espionage

Did you hear about 28-year old Anna Chapman (real name Anya Kushchenko) who has been accused of spying? It seems she played a leading role in a Russian spy ring operating in the US. This is the stuff of James Bond films!

She was married to a British guy before she set off for the US and the question is, was that part of the scheme as well? Just to get a British passport?

Her father apparently used to work for the KGB. He was the Russian ambassador to Zimbabwe when they got married. The ex says: "He was scary... He had a Land Rover with blackedout windows and there was always one car in front and one behind..." (Daily Mail)

So what were these spies after?

"Alleged intercepted messages in court documents suggest they were asked to find information on topics including nuclear weapons, US arms control positions, Iran, White House rumours, CIA leadership turnover, and political parties..."

"Investigators say some of the agents had been using false identities since the early 1990s, using codes and engaging in advanced computer operations, including posting apparently innocent pictures on the internet which contained hidden text. The FBI also reported observing older techniques, such as messages sent by invisible ink, money being buried next to a beer-bottle marker and "brush pasts" in parks, where agents swap identical bags as they pass each other." (BBC)

How exciting is that?! I've always loved spy novels so this is pretty fascinating.

She moved to New York and climbed up the social ladder, mingling with the rich and influential...

Nice Chanel bag!

This summer's champagne sorbet

I didn't cook at all this weekend (which is fine by me!). We were busy meeting up with friends for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. On Saturday evening we went to an Italian restaurant, which was good apart from the fact that they didn't serve Bellinis. Eh? How can they not?

So they brought me something else - I think it was a sparkling elderberry (or elderflower?) cocktail... but it was too sweet.

The seafood spaghetti was quite good. But I prefer pasta with a sauce (tomato or cream). I think I generally prefer a cream sauce but what about you?

And dessert? This summer I am loving champagne sorbet!

What's your favourite ice cream / sorbet?

Let him be ÉGOÏSTE

Tell me, what is your favourite fragrance for men?

I repurchased a Chanel eau de toilette for my husband. The Platinum ÉGOÏSTE has been my favourite scent for men for as long as I can remember.

The bottle is so chic. And it smells so good. The website says it's a 'fresh-green-woody' scent (?).

(This wasn't just an excuse for me to shop at the Chanel counter, honest...)

The secret garden

Isn't this gate* magical? There is something so inviting about it...

I can imagine walking into a secret garden full of flowers... and losing track of time.

Today I have a lunch date with a friend and I'm looking forward to cooling down with a Bellini... (There is one major disadvantage to having a car: no more drinking! So I have to make the most of it now!)

What are your plans?
*It was actually the gate to someone's property in Oslo!
